Hi there, I'm Helena

I’ve been passionate about Horticulture for over 30 years.  After leaving school in the early 1990's I studied at Askham Bryan College where I gained a HND in Horticulture and a B.Sc (Hons) in Land Management and Technology I'm Vice Chair of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture's Education Committee as well as their Northern Branch. I'm a big believer in community gardening and have the pleasure of being a judge for Yorkshire in Bloom.

I’ve had many different roles in the Horticulture sector over the years, from landscaper to private gardener, nursery technician and garden centre buyer.  Since 2005 I have been sharing my knowledge and love of plants and gardens as a lecturer and vocational assessor. Recently I also work as a garden advisor for the RHS.

I’m inspired by the beauty and potential of the natural world.  My passion lies in empowering individuals to cultivate confidence in their gardening abilities and experience the profound physical and mental benefits of time spent outdoors.

I specialise in delivering practical, creative solutions tailored to your garden’s unique needs. With expert plant knowledge, creative flair, and years of industry experience, my mission is to guide and support you through every step of your gardening journey.

Through personalised garden visits and one-on-one coaching, I help clients unlock the full potential of their outdoor spaces—no matter the size or budget.  Whether you are a homeowner or renting I’m committed to making gardening accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

If you want a more hands on approach to your garden but don’t know where to start I can support you with private gardening tutoring.  I am also available for talks and workshops to schools, community groups and organisations in the West and North Yorkshire region.

For commercial clients and schools I can also offer bespoke training  tailored to your needs.
